What is rescue archeology?
Rescue archeology is when archeologists carry out a dig before a new road or building takes place
What is research archeology?
Research archeology is when a site is excavated because there is a reason to believe that an artifact will be found, Examples 1.story or reference to the area in a document
What is geophysical survey?
Geophysical survey is when an archeologist x-rays the site to look at the soil beneath.
What is an aerial photograph?
An aerial photograph is when a photo of the the site is taken from the sky. It might show features not visible form ground level
What are post holes?
Post holes are darker patches left by wooden poles in the soil. They might show a out line of a house even if it doesn’t exist anymore.
What is stratigraphy?
A method of dating artifacts. The lower down in the soil they are found the older it is.
What is carbon or radiocarbon dating?
A method of dating artifacts. All living things contain carbon-14. When the living thing dies it begins to loose carbon-14. The older an object the less carbon-14.

A method of dating wooden objects. Each object
