Roof - fascia lata
Floor - pectineus, iliopsoas, adductor longus
Superior - inguinal ligament
Lateral - medial border of sartorius
Medial border - medial border of the adductor longus
Support the contents during flexion of the thigh at the hip.

From lateral to medial:
i) Femoral nerve - anterior compartment of thigh
ii) Femoral artery - majority of arterial supply to lower limb
iii) Femoral vein - great saphenous vein drains into here.
iv) Femoral canal - contains deep lymph nodes and vessels.
The artery, vein and canal are surround in a femoral sheath.
Acronym - NAVEL
Nerve, artery, vein, empty space, lymph nodes
Clinical relevance - Femoral pulse
Midway between ASIS and pubic symphysis.
Clinical relevance - femoral hernia
A hernia is defined as, ‘a condition in where part of an organ is displaced and protrudes through the wall containing it’.
In the case of femoral hernia - bowel pushes into the femoral canal, underneath the inguinal ligament.
Requires surgical intervention.
