Area and perimeter of parallelograms Flashcards
How is the area of a rectangle related to a parallelogram
To find the area, you multiply the base and the perpendicular height
How do we find the perimeter of a parallelogram
We add all the 4 sides of the parallelogram
3 cm + 5 cm + 3 cm + 5 cm = 16 cm
What is the perimeter of the parallelogram?
16 cm + 8 cm + 16 cm + 8 cm
or
2 * (16 cm + 8 cm) = 48 cm
If we take 30 cm as the base, which is the height of the parallelogram?
The height must at right angled to the base
Hence 12 cm is the height
the right angle is drawn with the base and height
How do find the area of the parallelogram?
We multiply the base with the height
30 cm * 12 cm = 360 cm2
What is the area of the parallelogram?
16 cm * 4 cm = 64 cm2
What is the perimeter of the parallelogram?
6 cm + 10 cm + 6 cm + 10 cm
or
2 * (6 cm + 10 cm) = 32 cm
What is the area of the parallelogram?
7 cm * 6 cm = 42 cm2
What is the perimeter of the parallelogram?
11 cm + 8 cm + 11 cm + 8 cm
or
2 * (11 cm + 8 cm) = 38 cm
What is the area of the parallelogram?
6 cm * 8 cm = 48 cm2
What is the perimeter of the parallelogram?
11 cm + 9 cm + 11 cm + 9 cm
or
2 * (11 cm + 9 cm) = 40 cm
What is the area of the parallelogram?
9 cm * 7 cm = 63 cm2
