Area and Perimeter Flashcards
What is the perimeter?
The perimeter is the sum of all the surrounding sides of a shape.
What is the area?
The area is the sum of the interior area of a shape (measured in square units).
What is the area of a rectangle?
Area = Length x Width. A = LW.
What is the area of a triangle?
Area = 1/2 x Width x Perpendictular height. A = 1/2BH
What is the area of a parallelogram?
Area = Base x Perpendicular height. A = BH.
What is the area of a trapezium?
Area = 1/2 x (sum of parallel sides) x Perpendicular height. A = 1/2(a+b)H.
What is the area of a rhombus?
Area = 1/2 x (products of diagonals). A = 1/2(x+y).
What is the area of a kite?
Area = 1/2 x (products of diagonals). A = 1/2(x+y).
Find the area of a triangle with the base length of 24cm and a height of 16 cm.
A = 1/2BH A = 1/2 x 24 x 16 A = 192cm^3
Find the area of a triangle with the base length of 43m and a height of 36m.
A = 1/2BH A = 1/2 x 43 x 36 A = 774m^3
Find the area of a square with a length of 12cm and a height of 12cm.
A = LW A = 12 x 12 A = 144cm^3
Find the area of a rectangle with a length of 36m and a height of 24m.
A = LW A = 36 x 24 A = 864m^3
Find the area of a parallelogram with a base length of 11cm and a height of 9cm.
A = BH A = 11 x 9 A = 99cm^3
Find the area of a parallelogram with a base length of 25m and a height of 12m.
A = BH A = 25 x 12 A = 300m^3
Find the area of a trapezium with parallel sides of 12cm and 15cm respectively and a height of 19cm.
A = 1/2(a+b)H A = 1/2(12 + 15) x 19 A = 256.5cm^3
