Angle Geometry Flashcards
What are adjacent angles?
Adjacent angles are angles that are placed next to each other. Adjacent angles share a common arm.
What are complementary angles?
Complementary angles are angles that have an angle sum of 90 degrees. For example, 35 degrees and 55 degrees.
What are supplementary angles?
Supplementary angles are angles that add up to 180 degrees, such as 120 and 60 degrees.
What are angles at a point?
Angles at a point are angles that add up to 360 degrees.
What are vertically opposite angles?
Vertically opposite angles are angles that are opposite each other and are the same angle. Vertically opposite angles add up to 360 degrees.
What are complimentary angles?
Angles which occupy the same relative position at each intersection where a straight line crosses two others. Complimentary angles are equal.
What are alternate angles?
Alternate angles are angles that are opposite the line bisecting two parallel lines. Alternate angles are equal.
What are co-interior angles?
Co-interior angles are angles in between parallel lines (they add up to 180)
How do you find the angle sum of polygons?
The angle sum of polygons is the sides of the polygons minus two multiplied by 180.
Find the angle sum of a polygon with 7 sides.
= 7 - 2 x 180
= 900 degrees
Find the angle sum of a polygon with 18 sides.
= 18 - 2 x 180
= 2880 degrees
How do you find the exterior angles of a hexagon
= 6 - 2 x 180 = 720 degrees 720 divided by 6 (sides) = 120. 180 - 120. = 60. 60 x 6 = 360 Therefore 60 is the exterior angle.
What are pythagorean triads?
Pythagoran triads are sets of three ascending numbers that follow Pythagoras’ theorum. These include (3,4,5) and (2.5,6,6.5)
What is pythagoras’ theorum?
Pythagoras’ theorum follows the rule a^2 + b^2 = c^2. This means the opposite and adjacent sides squared are equal to the hypotenus squared.
