PCWP not necessary, because ARDS is a clinical diagnosis based on pulmonary edema on chest X-ray and hypoxemic respiratory failure
No invasive testing required

CHF vs. ARDS
CHF: increased PCWP (due to failure of LV), decreased LV function
ARDS: decreased PCWP, Increased LV function (due to leakage of fluid)

Tx
A
Small, shallow, fast breaths
CO2: decrease tidal volume, increase RR
O2: adjust PEEP rather than changing FiO2
Treat underlying disease
