What are the two different levels of Architecture?
Enterprise and Solution.
What is Enterprise Architecture?
EA is high-level, more abstract and coarse-grained. It covers a longer period and addresses all IS/IT systems.
What is Solution Architecture?
SA is slightly lower lvels, less abstract, less-coarse grained. It is bounded by the business requirements, although it may require integration across several systems.
What the four different domains of architecture?
Business (processes, roles functions). Data (data entities, schemas, models). Applications (group of functionality). Technology (supporting systems to application, such as database, file mgmt).
What is Architecture?
Fundamental concpets or properties of a system in its envrionment embodied in its elements, relationships and in the principles of its design and evolution.
What are the inputs at Enterprise level Architecture?
Enterprise mission and vision, corporate strategy and goals, major systems and organisational structure.
What are the inputs at Solution level Architecture?
Essential drivers, organisation, locations, business processes and data, products and marketplace, financial targets, baseline architecture.
What is TOGAF?
TOGAF is an enterprise architecture framework that helps define business goals and align them with architecture objectives around enterprise software development.
What does TOGAF stand for?
The Open Group Architecture Framework.
What are TOGAF’s ADM areas?
Architecture Vision - Business Architecture - Information Systems Architecture - Technology Architecture - Opportunities and Solutions - Migration Planning - Implementation Governance - Change Management. They are set in a circle with Requirements Management in the centre and Preliminary sitting outside facing Architecture Vision.
Can Architecture affect the business?
Yes, good architecture is very important as if affects the business on so many levels. Good Architecture is flexible and enables agile response to change.
