Throttle … open
Fuel pump … off
Fuel selector … off
Abandon if fire continues 
Use external fire extinguisher
Carburetor icing 
Carb heat … on
Mixture … adjust for max smoothness
Engine power loss during takeoff
If sufficient runway remains for a complete stop:
Airspeed … maintain safe airspeed
Landing … land and stop straight ahead
Brakes … as required
Insufficient runway:
Airspeed … maintain safe airspeed
Only shallow turns to avoid obstacles and land
Flaps … as required
Electrical fire
Smoke in cabin
Archer: Emergency battery … verify arm
Battery master … off
Alternator … off
Vents … open
Heat/Def … off
Fire … extinguish
Emergency descent, if needed to safe altitude
Land as soon as practical
Fire out:
Master on only if critical, then one essential system at a time
Reset circuit breakers only critical systems
Loss of fuel flow
If caused by tank depletion:
Fuel pump … on
Fuel selector … fullest tank
Fuel pump … off
If caused by engine-driven fuel pump failure:
Throttle … close
Fuel pump … on
Throttle … as required
Mixture … as required
Spin recovery
Rudder … full opposite
Control wheel … full forward and neutral
Throttle … idle
Rotation stopped:
Rudder … neutral
Control wheel … smooth back pressure
Power off landing
Airspeed … maintain 76 Archer 73 Warrior
Establish spiral pattern, or as necessary to be at 1000 feet AGL downwind for normal approach
If time permits:
Declare an emergency, squawk 7700
When committed to landing:
Airspeed … 66
Flaps … as desired
Throttle … closed
Mixture … idle cut off
Mag switches … off
Battery master … off
Alternator … off
Fuel selector … off
Seatbelt/harness … tighten
Cabin door … unlatch and lock open
Touchdown at lowest possible airspeed, full flaps
Maximum ramp weight
