Recharge
Adds water to the ground water system when rainfall,melting snow, surface water or water from a creek or lake soaks through soil and rock
Aquifer
he underground layer of water bearing rock in our area
Soil pereability
Is the measure of how easily water can flow trough a material like rock, soil, clay, or sand
Soil porosity
Is measured as a percentage of open space or pores material and can be calculated using a simple formula
Water table
The level of water under the ground
Zone of saturation
An area where the pores are filled with water-under the water table
Zone of aeration
Area where pores space are filled with air (above the water table)

Water under the ground
Surface water
Water that is above the ground incl lakes, streams, rivers etc.
Melt water
Water released by melting of snow or ice (including from glaciers)
Reservoir
Something that is a holding tank or storage for water natural or man made
Evaporation
Conversion of water to gaseous water vapor
Percipitation
Water falling from the sky as rain, sleet, snow, or fog
Watershed
