Interactive operating system
An operating system in which the user and the computer are in direct two way communication
Real-time operating system
Inputs are processed in a timely manner so that the output can affect the source of the inputs
Network Operating System
A layer of software is added to the operating systemof a computer connected to a network. This layer intercepts commands that reference network resources elsewhere on the network, e.g. a file server, then redirect the request in a manner completely transparent to the user
