Approaches in Psychology Flashcards
Charles Darwin evolution
Understanding human behaviour is about understanding its adaptive value.
Humanistic approach.
Too much emphasis has been placed on the way that environment impacts on behaviour at the expense of considering the more important impact of the individual themselves.
Behaviorist approach
The focus of psychology should be on studying the outwardly observable behaviours vacancy rather than internal processes that we cannot.
Psychodynamic approach
I believe we can explain many physical problems by looking more closely at the mind. Dreams are a window into conflicts in the mind.
Wilhelm Wundt
The first person to open a experimental lab that focuses and studies pyschology.
Cognitive approach
In order to understand the human mind and brain we need to continue to build ever more sensitive computer models.
Biological
You understand behaviour you have the brain and its chemical processes.
Social learning theory
Behaviourism offers useful explanations for some; however, the approach needs to pay more attention to cognitive processes and learning indirectly from the behaviours of others.
