approaches- classical conditioning Flashcards
1
Q
watson (1913)
A
rejected introspection
2
Q
focus for behaviourist psychologists
A
studying behaviour that can be observed and measured- not mental processes or thoughts
3
Q
lab setting
A
emphasised control and objectivity
4
Q
behaviourism key assumption
A
believed that the basic processes of learning is the same in all species. therefore animal studies can be used to gain insights into human behaviour
5
Q
AO1- classical conditioning
A
- learning occurs through association
- people make associations with stimuli in their environment and through learning this then elicits a certain response
- an unconditioned response to an unconditioned stimulus can be paired with a neutral stimulus to create a conditioned response
-over time the neutral stimulus then becomes a conditioned stimulus which elicits a conditioned response
