describe the posterior approach
A
The moore approach is the posterior approach to the hip
Position: lateral with side supports to keep pelvis vertical
Landmarks:PSIS, GT and lateral border of femur
Incision:centred over the posterior aspect of the GT
Superficial: split TFL and gluteus maximus
Deep:
* palpate the sciatic nerve
* stay suture then detach the short external rotators
* leave quadratus femoris - medial femoral circumflex artery
Repair : transosseous capsule and rotator repair
Extension: distally along the lateral femur or proximally to the ilium
