Explain a Non Precision Approach
- One mile before FAF fix:
= Gear down
= Landing Flap
(Fully configured)
= slow to Vref.
= Before Landing Check list. - Leveling Off at MDA or Field in Sight:
= Set Go Around Altitude.
What Category are we for straight in approaches and circling.
Straight In: Category B
Circling: Category C
What’s your Single Engine Vref speed with NO ICE and in ICE.
NO ICE: Vref + 12
IN ICING: Vref + 22
Circling Approach:
1. What’s the Airspeed range for CAT C circling approaches.
2. What’s the standard circling distance (CAT C).
3. What’s the non standard circling distance (CAT C).
1= 121 to 140 knots
2= 1.7 miles
3= 2.7 miles
Single Engine Approach:
Should you fly it with the YD on.
No, turn it off so your not fighting it.
Non Precision Approach:
FAF inbound, using VS, how many fpm down gives us a 3 degree glide path
Approximately -650 fpm down = 3 degrees.
