Where there are a variety of options offered to employees in terms of working time, working location and working patterns etc
Outsourcing
Choosing to get other people or businesses to carry out tasks that were originally carried out by people employed by the business
Leaving staff: dismissal

Leaving staff: redundancy
- firm no longer need the task/job to be completed
Closure, relocation

- the employee has to be part of the group-
- decisions/ negotiations are made between a representative of the employees group and managers of business
What is trade union?
An organisation whose membership consists of workers and union leaders, United to protect and promote their common interests

Securing jobs, maximising pay
Ensuring safe/ better working conditions
Fair treatment (regulate relations, settle grievances, dismissal challenges)
What is working council?
Group of elected employees representing a work force in regular discussions with their employees
Restrictions: working council
Only for a business with >50 employees (UK)
Mandatory for business with 1, 000 employees (EU)
