What is a written appreciation?

A

A record of decision making and shows why a certain course of action was taken.
Should be completed when
- several points need to be considered and there is danger of points being overlooked if not written
-clearer picture of situation is desired to present logical argument that will carry conviction to higher authority.

A

Written Appreciation that needs only to contain sufficient detail to ensure all relevant deductions may be made from it.

What are the 4 steps of an appreciation?

A
  1. Aim or objective
    (Brief and to the point . Only one aim/objective)
  2. Factor
    (Statement of truth about some known influences or circumstances. Identify and consider factors that will affect you aim and objectives. Risk assessment
  3. Courses open
    (Options you can identify having assessed the factors and deductions made from the factors. Having examined all available options, each course of action must be critically examined before deciding on most appropriate course to achieve aim)
  4. Plan
    (Review plan, assess: is it more than likely to be effective? Is it proportionate? (Effort, time, resources) Is it achievable? (Will it pass the self test?)
