Why are descriptive and scientific statements used in medicine?
It enables us to have an impartial and objective POV of the world. It shifts focus to the experiment/results.
What is phenomenology?
It is a branch of philosophy relating to first person experience and consciousness

The phenomenological description (pain is discomfort extremely, tied to poor emotional well bring) and the biological description (pain is nerves firing and brain signals).

Female moral reasoning involved ideas such as empathy, care, and relationships vs men’s ideas of moral justice and autonomy

The importance of context and responsiveness to needs in ethical reasoning - honoring subjective experience

What is the transpersonal caring relationship?
It is the conscious experience and moral commitment to make a connection with the patient

It is time and space where nurses and patients can allow for caring to occur
What is the difference between obligation and responsibility?
Obligation = rules to abide by
Responsibility = morals and relationship based (care)
What is impartiality in care?
Equal consideration for all unless morally relevant differences exist - it can be insensitive to context

It is the ability to see suffering and empathize
