Application Aims & Instructions Flashcards
What are the Applications for K tape
Fascial Correction
Space Correction
Overactive Muscle
Underactive muscle
Mechanical/Tendon Correction
Functional correction
Lymphatic Correction
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Fascial correction
Tension -
1)10-15% sensitive, superficial
fascia (no oscillation)
2) 10-25% superficial fascia with oscillation
3) 25-50% deep fascia with oscillation
Direction - Dependent on Manual Direction Tissue Test
Notes -
1) Neutral position or slight stretch.
2) Oscillations can be side to side or long and short.
3) Cut dependent on level of stimulus needed
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Space Correction
Tension - 10-35% in center of tape
Direction - Decompression Tissue Test relieves pain
Notes -
1) Gentle stretch.
2) Usually use I strip, donut hole, X-cut, or web cut.
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Overactive Muscle
Tension - 15-25%
Direction - Distal > Proximal – Proximal Glide Test relieves pain
Notes -
1) Place muscle on comfortable stretch.
2) Usually use I strip or Y strip.
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Underactive Muscle
Tension - 15-35%
Direction - Proximal > Distal – Distal Glide Test relieves pain
Notes -
1) Place muscle on comfortable stretch.
2) Usually use I strip or Y strip
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Mechanical/Tendon Correction
Tension - 50-75% with or without compression
Direction -
1) Dependent on direction of
relief.
2) Compress tendon at point of relief.
Notes - Maintain compression on application if beneficial.
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Ligament Correction
Tension - 75-100% with compression over ligament
Direction - Distal > Proximal
Notes - No stretch on tissue.
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Functional Correction
Tension - 50-75%+ with active movement – spring assist/limit
Direction - Distal > Proximal
Notes - Create “tent” or “bridge” and then smooth center on opposing movement.
What is the Tension, Direction and other notes for Lymphatic Correction
Tension -
1) 0-20% for oedema
2)0-10% for hematoma
Direction - Proximal towards lymph node
Notes -
1) Fan or web-cut usually used. Neutral or gentle stretch.
2) Cross tails over congested area
