Appendix B Flashcards
Get to know Coordinate Geometry and Lines.
What is the Distance Formula?
The distance formula can be used to find the distance between two points on a graph by substituting the numbers.
What is the slope formula?
The slope formula can be used to calculate a line’s inclination or steepness. It can be used to calculate the slope of any given line by dividing the change in y over the change in x
m = (y2-y1) / (x2-x1)
What is Point-Slope Form?
What is it’s purpose?
y − y1 = m(x − x1)
where m is the slope of the line and (x1, y1) are the coordinates of a given point on the line
to describe the equation of the entire line when given a point on the line and the slope.
Slope-Intercept Form?
y = mx + b
where m is the slope of the line and b is the y intercept
used to find the y-intercept and the slope of a straight line.
