appeasement success Flashcards
intro
after taking office as chancellor on January 30th, 1933 Hitler immediately began pursuing a hostile foreign policy, vowing to abolish the treaty of versailles and secure lebensraum in the east. mussolini pursued an expansionist foreign policy as well, and Britain decided to adopt an appeasement strategy. Appeasement is the policy of making concessions to another power to avoid conflict.

on 7th march 1936, hitler delivered a speech to the german nation. in the speech hitler condemned an agreement of mutual assistance between france and russia - the franco-soviet pact - that aimed to envelope nazi germany. hitler claimed france had violated locarno and that germany was no longer bound by the rhineland pact.
