Terms Associated with Plot
A
EXPOSITION: introduces characters and conflicts they face.
INCITING INCIDENT: occurs after exposition and intro the central conflict in story.
RISING ACTION: follows intro of central conflict, character struggles, and complications arise in conflict.
CLIMAX: turning point, point max interest, highest tension in plot.
FALLING ACTION: end of central conflict, action starts to wind down.
RESOLUTION AND DENOUEMENT: after climax, where conflicts are resolved.
SUBPLOT: additional minor plot involving second conflict, may or may not affect main plot.
