Learn APG Genesis Performance Software
New Navigator Trip
Tap Add Trip in upper right corner of Genesis.
Aircraft Availability
Initially aircraft are displayed in numerical order but later display based upon your selection of preference. (Frequently Used or Recently Used)
Airplane Icon
Tail Number is available for flight planning as well as performance planning. Default to full flight planning.
Flight Planning Toggle
Switch to off if flight planning information is already available from another source.
Departure & Arrival Airport
ICAO IATA City Name or Airfield Name.
ETD/ETA
Select a flight time based on either estimated time of departure or estimated time of arrival.
Trip List
Each trip created can be found again by clicking on the Trips tab on the main menu. Tap desired trip to view or modify.
Trip Summary Overview
When a trip is opened this is the first screen displayed. Other tabs are accessed from this screen to modify trip parameters.
Trip Alert
Red Icon in upper right corner of overview screen.
Trip Alerts
Fuel onboard entry in Weight & Balance and any other critical alerts must be resolved for trip reports and flight plan filing to become available.
Hamburger Icon
Three line menu in upper left corner of all screens. It returns the user to the main menu.
Trip Header
Seen on all trip screens. Includes:
- Departure Airport
- Arrival Airport
- Times &
- Current Weather
Click on Blue Date & Time text to change ETD/ETA.
Flight Planning Header
Located below Trip Header. Route String can be scrolled to review entire route.
Flight Planning Tab
Show’s a review of planned route and basic trip information.
Route String Bubbles
Clicking on a specific blue outlined “bubble” in the route string provides additional options such as:
- View on Map
- Changing SID or STAR or
- manually editing route.
Map Area
Includes a map of flight as well as several additional map options.
Avoids
Clicking this allows for route modification based upon current avoids (e.g. SIGMETs Special Use Airspace TFRs or User Defined.)
Manual Avoid
Open Manual Avoid then create new by tapping Create New in bottom left corner then tap at least three points on the map over the flight path. This will produce magenta lines. Then tap finish. Finally tap Apply Changes near route bubbles. Once created it can be removed by clicking on the edge to open an option to remove it.
Interactive Map Items
Most items on the Map are interactive and can be tapped to provide more details.
Flight Planning Route Tab
Provides additional routing information and options.
APG Select Route
Provides a time and fuel optimized route.
Direct Route
Provided for comparison.
Recently Cleared
If available shows recently cleared routes between departure and arrival airports.
Preferred
If available shows FAA preferred routes between departure and arrival airports. If listed, routes are not pre-calculated until selected by the user. After selection, Genesis App will calculate the selected flight plan.
Tracks
Displays when flight plan is within range of a track system route.
Eurocontrol
When available displayed and route validation is attempted.
Select Weather
Select box to toggle. Choose between Forecast or Historical winds and temperatures aloft. Forecast weather is available within ten days of your ETD and only when internet access is available.
Flight Planning Profiles Tab
Provides altitude speed and fuel profiles for trip.
Changing Speed or Altitude Profile
Tap inside one of the cells inside the Altitude/Speed Profile Table. Even though text is not blue it is selectable.
Step Climb
Denoted by white S in black circle indicates a step climb is required. Tap icon for additional information.
Fuel Profile
Several options are adjustable including:
- Taxi Out
- Reserve Fuel or
- Other.
Other Fuel
Fuel not included in the required fuel calculations.
Flight Planning Alternates Tab
Screen provides information on departure and arrival alternates for the trip. Up to two arrival alternates can be selected.
Alternate Airfield
When choosing an Alternate on this tab runway details for these airports will be available in the runway analysis section.
Alternate Weather
Tap Weather in Alternates table will provide current weather and NOTAM’s for selected airport.
Flight Rules
Displays in Weather Column when weather is available for the ETA.
Selected Weather Within ETA Range
Pop Up header changes to indicate time and specific weather display in bold white. Ceiling at ETA and Visibility at ETA also display.
Add Other Airfield
Selecting to add additional alternate airport choices. The user added airport automatically becomes the primary alternate airport.
Flight Planning Filing Tab
Provides options to change trips details that were not selected in other portions of the Genesis APP.
Critical Alerts
All Critical Alerts located in red box with a number inside it must be cleared prior to being allowed to file.
Internet Access
Must be available to file and receive updates.
Filing Time Constraints
ETD must be within 24 hours to 30 minutes prior to be able to file. It is possible that some ARTCC may restrict time to 46 minutes prior to ETD.
Filing Flight Plan
Once all critical alerts are cleared and all information is verified to be correct press file button.
Runway Analysis
Provides departure and arrival runway analysis of Genesis selected runways.
Changing Runway
Tap another runway in Runway table.
DP
If displayed tap to read Engine Out Departure Procedure or to display graphical one engine out procedure if available.
Runway Analysis Departure Tab
Departure and Emergency Return tabs are available. If departure alternate airfield was added it will also be displayed.
Runway Analysis Arrival Tab
Arrival Airport as well as up to two selected arrival alternate airports are displayed.
Select Weather (Ground Weather)
Tap to choose weather being used for runway viability.
Performance Criteria
Tap to adjust any performance setting.
Runway Details
Tap to display additional runway information.
Shortening Runways
Tap a specific runway’s TORA or LDA to see two ways to shorten runways view NOTAM’s and a runway diagram.
W & B Tab
Provides a screen to enter weight and balance items for the specific trip.
ZFW Fuel Onboard Row
Enter amount of fuel you currently plan to load. This can be changed later when exact amount of fuel onboard is known.
Minimum Required Fuel
Amount of fuel required based upon current flight plan.
Seating Diagram
Tap on floorplan image to add weights. Tapping on existing person or cargo item removes the associated weight.
Weight Table
Alternate method to tapping on floor diagram. Tap Blue Down Arrow to expand table and then enter weights as desired.
Crew Movement Option
Some Aircraft have the ability to depict a shifting weight of crewmember.
Inflight Enevelope
Tap to view CG details.
Critical Alerts Resolved
Once all alerts are resolved the summary page will display the TOLD Card Operational Flight Plan (OFP) and Trip Folder APG reports become available.
Printing Documents
Tap Trip Folder to access this option.
Filed Flight Plan Operational FLight Plan (OFP) Tab
Once filed only the filed version is available to be viewed.
Changes to Filed Flight Plan
If changes made within Genesis after filing but have not yet been submitted as a flight plan change the Trip Folder Tab will contain both a Filed and Current Data version of the Operational Flight Plan (OFP.) Only the filed version is allowed to be shared.
APG Reports Tab
Available flight reports can be seen here. APG reports only update when a change is made to the trip.
Weather Reports
Weather reports are available at anytime and update each time this screen is viewed. A manual refresh can be performed by tapping the refresh icon.
Closing Contents List
Swipe finger from far right side to the left to close contents list.
Weight & Balance Report
Tap Paper Icon to add PIC and SIC names and other details.
Pen Icon
If available tap to add signature.
Sharing Reports
Select one or more reports and then tap share icon. Drop down will provide multiple options for sharing based on iPad capabilities and connectivity.
APG Admin Tool (Assuredly Not Us)
The following items are set by the Admin Tool: Aircraft capabilities (e.g. RNAV equipped RVSM approved MNPS Approved) Flight Planning specifics (e.g. Default Route Type Alternate Minimum Plan Distance) Fuel Specifics (e.g. Available Fuel Profiles Minimum Landing Fuel Regulatory Basis Fuel Burn Factors) Filing Specific (e.g. Type of Flight Aircraft Type & Wake Turbulence Aircraft Equipment Emergency Equipment Aircraft Color Markings Pilot Contact Info) and Report Specific (e.g. Captain Signature Loading Signature Last Minute Changes).
Data Updates
Keep screen or App open to let download completely finish.
Blue Text and Outlines
Are selectable tap for more options.
Delete Trip
In trip list swipe left on trip to see delete option.
Trip List Sort
If multiple trips exist tap on a column to sort by that option. Tapping again changes sort order.
