Origins of apartheid

A

White settlers from holland came in 1652
British came in 1860s and took control by force by 1900.
The government was banded to the British in 1910 and the bedrock legislation was passed in 1911-1936 which formed the groundwork for apartheid

Students peacefully protested sang but were shot down by police in which well over 200 children and young adults were killed. Which lead to chaos, buildings were torched and people rebelled

De Klerk announced the end stating its failure and bedrock legislation was removed
The ban on the ANC was lifted
Mandela became very famous and wanted to reconcile and forgive
Mandela also become the first African president
