Three levels of involvement for psychologists in medications
Prescribers:
Collaboration: involved in decision making for prescription of one or more patients
Providing relevant information to prescribing decision makers: not helping choose meds, but talking about bx symptoms and variables that involve decision making
Guideline 1
consider scope of competence, seek consultation before offering recs about psychotropic meds

evaluate feelings and attitudes about role of meds in tx

be sensitive to the developmental, age, edu, sex, language, health status, and culture that moderate aspects of pharmocology

explore issues surrounding pt adherence and feelings about meds

develop relationship that allows pops served to feel comfy exploring issues of medications

adopt biopsychosocial approach to case formulation

use an expanded informed consent process to incorporate additional issues specific to prescribing

consider best interests of pt, current research, and needs of the community
