Culture
The sum of the human experience by a group of people living together. it’s all the things that make up our daily lives. (Shared practices, technologies, attitudes, behaviors…)
Cultural Traits
Cultural traits are those elements developed through social interaction that are transmitted or communicated in some form.
Cultural Relativism
celebration of diversity
Ethnocentrism
Xenophobic, superiority, ignorance
Relocation Diffusion
Ideas spread through people physically moving and bringing cultural phenomena, innovations, diseases, and more with them.
Contagious Diffusion
The cultural phenomenon spreads rapidly to almost everyone
Hierarchical Diffusion
Ideas spread blankily - starting with someone of power in society and spreading down the social hierarchy to some people. Can also be that it starts in large cities and eventually spreads to smaller towns.
Stimulus Diffusion
Full idea does not spread, but main or underlying idea spreads.
Distance, or physical barriers, linguistic barriers, religious barriers, political barriers, folk or local culture, ethnic culture, social class barriers, economic barriers, regulatory barriers.

Acculturation
When a group of people in one culture adopts traits from another
Creolization
the process of mixing of cultural traits, Primarily languages
Lingua Franca
Language mutually understood by the members of a society
Colonialism/ Imperialism
an outside force imposes its culture.
Assimilation
Minority group eventually adopts the prominent culture; sometimes it is somewhat forced. (ex: american indians).
Syncretism
When two different cultures mix together.
