AOTA-Hand Coordination Flashcards
Assessments, outcome measure
O’Conner Dexterity Test
Finger coordination test that requires hand placement of three pins per hole. It has been successfully used as a predictor for skills involving rapid manipulation of small objects. Board has 100 holes
it is timed for speed and accuracy
Nine-Hole Peg Test
used to measure finger dexterity in patients with various neurological diagnoses
Population: Stroke, TBI, PD, MS, CP others
GOLD STANDARD measure of manual dexterity
Jebsen-Taylor Hand Function Test
a standardized and objective measure of fine and gross motor hand function using simulated activities of daily living (ADL)
Subsets:
1. writing
2. simulated page-turning
3. lifting small objects
4. simulated feeding
5. stacking, and lifting large
6. lightweight, and
7. heavy objects.
Population: SCI, stroke, CP, MS, hand/wrist fx, OA, RA
Minnesota Rate of Manipulation Test
measures unilateral and bilateral gross and fine manual dexterity
Standardized performance-based evaluation that measures simple, rapid hand-eye coordination and arm-hand dexterity (gross motor skills). The two main tasks are placing and turning but other areas of testing can include displacing, 1-hand turning and placing, and 2-hand turning and placing.
commonly used in the evaluation of occupational fitness, disability evaluation and in rehabilitation
for healthy elders
Crawford Small Parts Dexterity Test
uses the manipulation of small tools under standardized conditions to measure fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
manual dexterity; pins, collars, and screws
Purdue Pegboard Test
a test of fingertip dexterity and gross movement of the hand, fingers and arm in patients with impairments of the upper extremity resulting from neurological and musculoskeletal condition
Assessment for coordination and dexterity
ADL checklists
use to uncover ADL dysfunction and set goals
Quick DASH
Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulders, and Hand Questionnaire is an outcome measure used before and after therapy
