Aortic Stenosis Flashcards
1
Q
Signs of severity
A
Low volume pulse plateau pulse Narrow pulse pressure Systolic thrill over aortic region Heaving apex Soft aortic HS Reverse splitting of 2nd HS 4th HS Late peaking systolic murmur Radiation to carotid Signs of pulm Htn Signs of pulm congestion

Q
Causes
A
Congenital: bicuspid aortic valve
Degenerative aortic valve with calcification
Rheumatic
3
Q
Differential for ES murmur
A
Aortic sclerosis-pulse vol and character normal, apex normal, normal 2nd HS, generally localised to aortic area and no radiation
Hocm

Q
Severity on TTE
A
Valve area < 1cm2
Pressure gradient> 50mmHg
