Wbat is a proper noun?
Refers to names of people or places (James, England)
What is an abstract noun?
Refer to states, feelings and concepts that do not have a physical existence (love, anger)
What is a concrete noun?
Refers to objects that have a physcial existence (cup, furniture)
What is a base adjective?
The basic form of an adjective or adverb, modifying another word (big, interesting, carefully)
What is a comparative adjective?
A form used to compare two instances eithing adding ‘er’ or ‘more’ (the parcel was ‘bigger’, that was a ‘more’ interesting’ and he read ‘more’ carefully)
What is a superlative adjective?
A form used to compare more than two instances, indentifying a best example (that was the ‘biggest’ parcel, the ‘most’ interesting game, it was the ‘most’ carefully he has ever read)
What is a personal pronoun?
Refer to people and are differentiated in terms of person (1st 2nd and 3rd), number (singular or plural) and gender (male or female) such as I (first person singular) you (second person singular/plural) she (third person singular feminine) they (third person plural)
What is a demonstrative pronoun?
Orientate the reader or listener towards a person, object or idea either nearby or further away (this, that, these or those)
What is an indefinite pronoun?
Refer to a person, object or idea that is non-specific (someone, anybody, everything)
What is a Co-ordinating Conjunction?
Link words or larger structures such as phrases and clauses together where they are equal (and, but, or, yet)
What is a subordinating conjunction?
Link clauses together to show one is dependant on another (because, although, while, for)
