- Marked fear of social/performance situation because it can lead to scrutiny or humiliation
- Person fears showing anxiety symptoms will cause negative evaluation.
- Situation is avoided or endured with anxiety
- Patient is aware fear is excessive
- > 6 months

What is the MOA of BZDs?
GABA-A agonist –> binding cause influx of Cl ions –> decreases neuronal activity.
GABA-A receptors have 3 subunit types..α1, α2 and α3…BSDs that bind to what subunit have a predominant hypnotic effect? Anxiolytic effect?
α1 = hypnotic effect
α2 and α3 = anxiolytic effect
What is the diagnostic criteria for Agoraphobia?
- Fear/avoidance of situations in which escape will be difficult or help unavailable.
- Need 2 of 5 of following situations
- Public transportation
- Open spaces
- Enclosed spaces
- Lines or crowds
- Outside of home alone. - > 6 months.

- Excessive anxiety or worries over several issues for most day for 6 months.
- Worry is difficult to control
- 3 or more physical/vital sense symptoms (restlessness, sleep, concentration, irritability, muscle tension, fatigue, HA, ect)
