What is the 2 types of therapies/treatment and define
- Empiric treatment: based on knowledge of most likely causative agent (broad spectrum)
- Directed treatment: specific organism is identified in lab & used target therapy (narrow spectrum)

- Patient factors: immune status & nutritional statutes
