Hypertension, HF, post MI

Lisinopril, Enalapril, Captopril
Monitor BP, orthostatic hypotension, contraindicated in pregnancy

Angiotensin II receptor Blockers (ARBs)
HTN, HF, diabetic renal insufficiency

A

Losartan, Valsartan (end in tartan)
Side effects: GI upset, hyperglycemia
Monitor: same as ACE-I

Beta Adrenergic Blockers
HTN, HF, post MI, arrythmias

A

Metoprolol, atenolol, Propranolol, Carvedilol (end in LOL)
Intervention: Check HR, BP prior to administration, hold if HR <60
Monitor: kidney labs, glucose, contraindicated in COPD + Asthma

Calcium Channel blockers
DHP-Antihypertensives
Non-DHP- dysrrhythmic for Afib

A

DHP: Nifedipine, amlodipine (ends in pine
Non DHP: Verapamil, Nifedipine, Diltiazem
(very nice drugs)
Interventions: Check HR, BP, hold if HR <60
No grapefruit juice
