what is the action of ENOXAPARIN Injection?
a Low-Molecular-Weight Heparins (LMWHs) commonly used for PREVENTION & TREATMENT of DEEP VENOUS THROMBOSIS & PULMONARY EMBOLISM
What is the route of ENOXAPARIN?
Subcutaneous & is often available in a prefilled syringe which contains an air bubble to ENSURE DELIVERY OF THE ENTIRE DOSE
What is the nursing consideration before giving ENOXAPARIN?
Air bubble should not be expelled prior to administration
could result in an incomplete dose & med error
What are the nursing considerations when administering a SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTION?
1) A 90-degree angle in an OBESE client or 2 inches (5cm) of tissue can be grasped. A 45-degree angle if only 1 inch (2.5cm) of tissue can be grasped.
2) The client should not rub the injection site
(increase bruising & risk of hematoma)
3) Are best absorbed when administered in the LOWER part of the right or left LATERAL ABDOMINAL WALL (ei. “Love Handles) atleast 2 inches (5cm) away from the Umbilicus.
