Unfractionated or low molecular weight

Indications
VTE, PE, AF, disseminated intravascular coagulation, and peripheral arterial embolism

Aspirin (antiplatelet)

A

Antithrombotic to reduce risk of thrombosis, TIA, or stroke

160-325 mg

Thrombolytics

A

Indicated for PE, ischemic stroke, acute ST elevation MI,

tPA (tissue plasminogen activator-first line), Streptokinase (second line), Alteplase, reteplase, tenecteplase

Therapy should begin within 12 hours

Preferred to percutaneous intervention when patients present within 3 hours of symptom onset

Contraindications
Internal bleeding, aortic dissection, head injury or stroke in last three months, HTN, anticoagulant use
