How can ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s be differentiated using an antibody test?
UC = pANCA +ve
Crohn’s = pANCA -ve
2 antibodies are present in rheumatoid arthritis. One is specific, one is non-specific. Name them.
Specific = anti-CCP
Non-specific = Rheumatoid factor
Systemic lupus erythematosus
ANA antibodies (99% of cases)
Anti dsDNA antibodies (used to monitor progression)
Antiphospholipid syndrome
Anticardiolipin antibodies
Anti B2 glycoprotein-1 antibodies
Sjogren syndrome
Anti-Ro antibodies
Anti-La antibodies
ANA often positive
Scleroderma
Anti centromere antibodies (ACAs) positive in 70% of cases
ANA often positive
How do the antibodies of polymyositis and dermatomyositis differ?
Polymyositis = Anti Jo1
Dermatomyositis = Anti Jo1 + anti Mi2
Fibromyalgia
No serological markers
