H.pylori eradication (1st line)
UTI
Acute sinusitis
Amoxicillin Precautions
Cephalosporin allergies, patients with HIV and heart conditions (aspartame)
Amoxicillin Adverse effects
Common = diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, superinfections
Rare = black tongue, hypernatremia, hypokalaemia, neurotoxicity
Clarithromycin Precautions
Renal impairment, drug can prolong QT interval
Clarithromycin Contraindications
Treatment with cisapride, colchicine, Domperidone
Clarithromycin Adverse effects
Common = taste disturbances, nausea, vomiting, candidal infection, diarrhoea
Rare= pulmonary infiltration with eosinophils, hypersensitivity, ototoxicity, prolonged QT interval

Commons = nausea, anorexia, metallic taste, CNS effects, vomiting diarrhoea
Rare = hypersensitivity reaction, hepatitis, pancreatitis, peripheral neuropathy
