What is Anti-Semitism?
The prejudice against Jews as a race, ethnicity and nationality.
How were Jews prejudiced in Roman Times?
They were enslaved by the Romans.
How did Jews face prejudice after Romans?
-They became a rival religion to Christianity after Rome became Catholic
-They were blamed for diseases and accused of crimes
-They were victims of genocide, segregated to Ghettos.
What was life like for Jews in Medieval England?
They were comfortable with Norman William the Conqueror until started being victims of violence and racism until York 1190 when King Edward I kicked them out.
What was the Holocaust?
The Genocide against Jews (inlcuding the segregation and racism they faced) by The Nazis.
How many Jews had died by 1945?
2/3 of all population.
Who else were prosecuted by the Nazi Party apart from Jewish people?
Black people, Gay people, Disabled People, Gypsies, Jehovah’s witnesses, Soviet civillians, Polish and P.O.W.
What law was passed on March 1933?
A boycott of all Jewish shops.
What are the Nuremberg Laws?
Reich Citizen Law - only German and related blood were eleigible to be German citizens.
Law for protection of German Blood and German Honour - forbade marriages and sexual relationships between Jews and Germans.
When were the Nuremberg Laws passes?
Sept 1935.
What did Jews have to do to be indentifiable to Germans?
Have Israel or Sara in their name depending on their gender and wear the Jewish star.

Germany went into hyperinflation by creating more and more money until it was worthless.

Germany couldn’t pay their reparations tp the French so instesd France attacked and took goods.

Germans became enranted with the current government because they weren’t stopping hyperinflation pr getting the French out so Hitler and the SA tried to stage a Putsch in Munich to overthrow the Government but it failed and they were all imprisoned.

Hitler was sent to prison for a year for the Munich Putsch and got a lot of coverage and wrote a book in prison titled ‘Mein Kampf’.

The Nazis hold a huge political rally, the Nuremberg Rally to attract people to their cause.

Another economic crisis arises called ‘The Great Depression,’ caused by the Wall Street Stock Market Crash of 1929. USA asks for more money from Germany even thoug they still can’t pay back France. France invades again and unemployment in Germany reaches 4M.

The Nazi Party is now the biggest political party in Germany and President Hinderburg is forced to make Hitler the Chancellor.

The Reichstag (German Parliament Building) is set on fire and the Nazi Party blame it on the Communist Party. Hitler creates the ‘Enabling Law’ which allows him to make up laws in emergency. He bans other political parties.

Hitler creates the Gestapo (a secret police like the NKVD) to do his bidding. He sets up the first concentration camp.
