A
  1. Pheochromocytoma: post operative and chronic management; phenoxybenzamine, phentolamine

2.hypertension emergency:
Labetolol

  1. Mild to mod. Hypertension:
    Prazosin
    Terazosin
    Trimazosin
  2. Toxaemias of pregnancy:
    Labetolol
  3. Raynauds phenomenon:-
    Prazosin + phenoxybenzomin
  4. Urinary obstruction:
    Alfuzosin, prazosin
  5. Erectile dysfunction:
    Yohimbine

Decrease HR
Force of contraction
Excitability

BV: increase TPR

B.P: decrease B.P
Decrease renin release

Respiratory tract:
Increase airway constriction
Bronchoconstriction
Broncho spasm

Eye: decrease i/o pressure

Metabolic:
Decrease Glycogenolysis and glucagon secretion

  1. Hypertension:-
    Labetolol
  2. IHD (angina pectoris)
    Decrease work load
  3. Cardiac arrhythemias:
    Both ventricular & supra ventricular
  4. Myocardial infarction:
    Prevent complications and reinfarction
    Prolong survival
  5. Thyroid storm:-
    Propranolol is effective
  6. Glaucoma:
    Timolol tropically
    Betaxolol
  7. Aortic aneurysm
  8. To decrease portal vein pressure
    In cirrhosis of liver
  9. Heart failure:
    Metoprolol, carvedilol
  10. Neurological conditions
    • migraine : timolol, atenolol
    • benign essential tremor
    • anxiety state
    • alcohol withdrawal symptoms
