Adrenaline Flashcards
Ph. Kinetics
Given by injection
Inhalation as aerosols
Tropically to eye
Oral route is ineffective (metabolised)
Excreted in urine
Ph. Dynamics
Stimulate both adrenoreceptors a&b
CVS ph action
• increase HR
• increase force of cardiac contraction
• increase conduction velocity
• increase cardiac output and risk of arrhythmias
Ph action blood vessal
Constriction of all arterioles:-
Skin, mucosa, pulmonary, abdominal viscera, coronary
Except dilate vessals going to liver and skeletal muscles
Ph action bp
Systolic pressure increase
Diastolic pressure decrease
Mean pressure increase
Pulse pressure increase
Ph action GIT
Smooth muscles of GIT wall relax
All sphincters contract
Net effect: GIT motility decreases
Respiratory ph action
•Bronchial smooth muscle relax; bronchodilation
• vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa vessal
• inhibit release of inflammatory mediators
Genitourinary ph action
• Through Alpha receptors present in genitourinary system it helps in;
Urinary continence
Normal ejaculation
• increase renin from kidney
Sweat glands
Ph action
Increase sweating
Increase secretion of amylase and water in salivary glands
Live PH action
Cause hyper glycemia
• increase gluconeogensis
• inc. glucogenolysis
Inhibit insulin release
Fat ph action
Lipolysis
Eye
Mydriasis
Decrease i/o pressure
CNS eff
Headache
Anxiety
Tremor
Nervousness
Restlessness
Clinical indications
Anaphylactic shock
Hypotensive
Cardiac arrest
Glaucoma
Asthma
Increase effect of local anaesthesia
To suppress pre mature labor
To achieve homeostasis in surgery
Adverse eff cvs
Hypertensive
• cerebral hemorrhage
• pulmonary edema
Increased cardiac work output
•angina
MI
Cardiac arrhythmias
•ventricular fibrillation
