Social exchange theory
The idea that we give to get, with as little cost to us as possible
Ex. Bringing food/gift to a party, working to get a paycheque
Primary research
Research done by yourself
Secondary research
Research done by others on the topic you are researching that you utilize
Research question
Overall concept or focus of the study
Hypothesis
Educate guess to answer the research question
Blind study
A study where at least two groups are participating and one group receives different treatment (drugs, behaviour, etc). The group who does not receive the treatment dont know.
Placebo
When a person believes they are receiving treatment (pill) but it is nothing of value (sugar pill)
Double blind study
Neither the participants or the supplier of the treatment know who is receiving the actual treatment.

People taking part in the experiment
Ethnography
Recording and analysis of culture, society. A scientific description of customs of individuals and cultures.
Hunting-Gathering
Men and older male children would leave camp/home to hunt and kills animals for meat. Women, children and elders pick plant-based food from nearby the camp/home.
Participant observation
The researcher partakes in the activity being observed. They listen, participate and record things.
Archaeology anthropology
Artifact retrieval from the past and places them in context to understand history and their relevance today
Forensic anthropology
Identifying skeletal or human remains
Visual anthropology
Documents everyday life through filming
Environmental anthropology
Understanding the well-being of an area and the people within it
Ethnographic anthropology
Studying culture
Linguistic anthropology
Seeks to explain the very nature of language and its use by humans
Physical anthropology
Traces of biological origins and genetic identity
Museum anthropology
Interprets ethnographic and archaeological collection to/for the public
Business anthropology
Gaining better understanding of their activities and their customers
