Anterior, lateral, and posterior compartments of the leg Flashcards
Flexor digitorum brevis distal
both sides of MIDDLE phalanges of lateral four digits
Flexor Digitorum Brevis proximal
medial process of tuber calcanei, plantar aponeurosis, and intermuscular septa
Flexor digitorum brevis innervation
Medial plantar nerve
Flexor digitorum brevis action
flexes lateral four digits (toes)
Flexor hallucis brevis proximal attachment
plantar surfaces of cuboid and lateral cuneiform bones
Flexor hallucis brevis distal attachment
both sides of base of proximal phalanx of great toe
Flexor hallucis brevis innervation
Medial plantar nerve
Flexor hallucis brevis action
flexes proximal phalanx of great toe (hallux)
Tibialis Anterior proximal attachment
Lateral condyle and superior 2/3 of lateral surface of tibia; and fascia: anterior interosseus membrane, intermuscular septum
Tibialis Anterior distal attachment
Medial and plantar surfaces of medial cuneiform bone and base of first metatarsal bone
Extensor hallucis Longus proximal attachment
Middle part of anterior surface of fibula and fascia: interosseous membrane
Extensor hallucis Longus distal attachment
Dorsal aspect of base of distal phalanx of great toe (hallux)
Extensor hallucis Longus innervation
Deep fibular nerve
Extensor hallucis Longus action
Extends great toe and Dorsiflexes foot (ankle)
Fibularis (Peroneus) longus proximal attachment
Head and superior twothirds of lateral surface of fibula, fascia: intermuscular septum; a few fibers from lateral tibial condyle
Fibularis (Peroneus) longus distal attachment
plantar surface of base of first metatarsal bone and medial cuneiform bone descends posterior to lateral malleolus, inferior to fibular (peroneal) trochlea & plantar groove on cuboid; crosses sole obliquely
Fibularis (Peroneus) longus innervation
Superficial fibular nerve
Extensor digitorum longus proximal attachment
Lateral condyle of tibia, superior three-fourths of anterior surface of fibula, and fascia: interosseous membrane; intermuscular septum
Fibularis (Peroneus) brevis proximal attachment
Inferior two-thirds of lateral surface of fibula; fascia: intermuscular septum
Fibularis (Peroneus) brevis distal attachment
Dorsal surface of tuberosity on lateral side of base of fifth metatarsal bone posterior to peroneus tertius; descends posterior to lateral malleolus; superior to fibular (peroneal) trochlea
Fibularis (Peroneus) brevis innervation
Superficial fibular nerve
Fibularis (Peroneus) brevis action
aids eversion; limits inversion; weakly plantarflexes ankle
Fibularis (Peroneus) longus action
NWBing: Everts foot and weakly plantarflexes ankle; depresses 1st metatarsal
WBing: plantarflexes ankle/foot & supports arches; limits inversion
Fibularis (peroneus) Tertius innervation
Deep fibular nerve
