Anterior Axio-Appendicular Muscles Flashcards
Pectoralis Major Insertion?
Lateral tip of inter-tubercular sulcus of humerus
Pectoralis Major Origin?
Clavicular head: anterior surface of medial half of clavicle
Sternocostal head: anterior surface of sternum, superior six costal cartilages, aponeurosis of external oblique muscle
Innervation of Pectoralis major?
Lateral and medial pectoral nerves, clavicular head (C5, C6), sternocostal head (C7, C8, T1)
Actions of Pectoralis major?
Adducts and medially rotates shoulder joint, draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly
Acting alone, clavicular head flexes shoulder joint and sternocostal head extends in from the flexed position
Pectoralis minor origin?
3rd-5th ribs near their costal cartilages
Pectoralis Minor insertion?
Medial border and superior surface of coracoid process of scapula.
Innervation of pectoralis minor?
Medial pectoral nerve (C8, T1)
Action of Pectoralis Minor?
Stabilizes scapula by drawing inferiorly and anteriorly against thoracic wall
Subclavius Origin?
Junction of 1st rub and its costal cartilage
Subclavius insertion?
Inferior surface of miiddle third of clavicle
Innervation of Subclavius?
Subclavian nerve (C5, C6)
Action of subclavius?
Anchors and depresses clavicle
Serratus Anterior origin?
external surfaces of lateral part of 1st-8th ribs
Serratus Anterior Insertion?
Anterior surface of medial border of scapula
Innervation of serratus anterior?
Long thoracic nerve (C5, C6, C7)
