Anterior and Posterior Arm Flashcards
Coracobrachialis
O: coracoid process
I: humerus, in line with lesser tuberosity
A: flexion, adduction, internal rotation of the arm
Innervation: musculocutaneous nerve
Arterial Supply: brachial artery
Clinical: lesion of musculocut nerve –> compression of muscle –> weakness in flexion
Brachialis
O: anterior surface of distal half of humerus
I: ulnar tuberosity
A: flexion at the elbow
Innervation: musculocutaneous nerve (and radial nerve)
Arterial Supply: brachial artery
Biceps Brachii
Long head: O: supra glenoid tubercle of scapula Short head: O: coracoid process Both: I: radial tuberosity A: flexion at elbow, supination of forearm; flexion abduction and internal rotation of arm Innervation: musculocutaneous nerve Arterial Supply: brachial artery
Borders of the Quadrangular Space
Inferior border of teres minor
Superior border of teres major
Lateral border of long head of triceps brachii
Medial border of humerus
What are the contents of the quadrangular space?
axillary nerve
posterior circumflex humeral artery
Contents of the triceps hiatus
radial nerve
profunda brachii artery
Boundaries and contents of the triangular space
inferior border of teres minor
superior border of teres major
medial border of long head of triceps brachii
circumflex scapular artery
Boundaries and Contents of Scapular Notch
superior transverse scapular ligament and scapula
suprascapular artery and nerve
Triceps Brachii
O:
long head: infraglenoid tubercle
lateral head: lateral intermuscular septum and posterior humerus superior to radial tuberosity
medial head: medial intermuscular septum and posterior humerus inferior to radial tuberosity
I: olecranon of ulna
A: extension of forearm, extension and adduction of arm (except medial head)
Innervation: radial nerve
Arterial supply: deep brachial artery
