Anterior Abdominal Wall/ Inguinal Canal Flashcards
Transpyloric Plane
L1 level
gallbladder, pylorus, pancreatic Neck, Hepatic Portal Vein, transverse mesocolon, hilia of kidneys
Subcostal plane
L3
transverse colon level
passes 10th costal cartilage
Transtubercle Plane
between iliac tubercles
at iliocecal junction
Interspinous Plane
Between ASIS
appendix and sigmoid colon
Pelvic Inlet
separates the pelvis and abd.
Abdominopelvic Cavities are lined by
Peritoneum
abdominal cavity
has greater pelvis
can extend to the 4th intercostal space
Camper’s Fascia
fatty layer of superficial fascia
like right under the skin
Scarpa’s Fascia
membranous under CT layer of the superficial fascia (Campers)
Continuous with Colle’s Fascia (superficial perineum) and fuses with fascia lata (lower limb)
=blood can flow from scarpas to colles however not down to the fascia lata of legs
External Oblique M.
interdigitates around serratus anterior
makes opening of superficial inguinal ring
N: T7-T12 intecostal
Action: compress the abd and increase intra-abd pressire
move trunk and retain posture
Internal Oblique M
makes part of the Inguinal falx
N: T7-T12 and L1
Action: compress and support viscera, lateral flexes and rotates
Transverse Abdominis Muscle
makes the rectus sheath from its apneurosis
N: T7-L1
Action: compress and support viscera
Rectus Abdominis Muscle
paired, wider at top N: T7-T12 Action: flex abdomen and compress it Linea Semilunaris: lateral border of M Pyramidis: goes down to the pubic area
Rectus Sheath how it is found
TOP: 3/4 above ARCUATE LINE External Oblique Internal Oblique Rectus Abd. Internal Oblique Transverse Abd
BELOW 1/3 below ARCUATE LINE External Oblique Internal Oblique Transverse Abd Rectus Abd.
Iliohypogastric Nerves
IO motor and upper inguinal and hypogastric sensory
Ilioinguinal N
Lower IO and TA motor
and lower inguinal and anterior scrotum/labia, medial thigh sensory
transverses inguinal canal + exits superior ring lateral to spermatic cord
Superficial vessels above umbilicus drain to
Axillary nodes
some to parasternal nodes
Superficial vessels below the umbilicus drain to
Superficial inguinal nodes
External and internal iliac veins (deep veins of abd wall)
Deep lympth vessels
Inguinal Ligament
EO apneurosis rolled under—-> ASIS and pubic tubercle
Conjoint Tendon (Inguinal flax)
inferion/medial of IB and Transversus abd. apneurosis—–> pubis
Superficial Ring
external opening of inguinal ligament (EO) = spermatic cord exits
exit for inguinal canal
has crural fibers
