A

8 - 12 weeks

Investigations:

  • BMI
  • Blood pressure
  • Urine dip
  • Bloods: FBC, blood group, rhesus status, haemoglobinopathies, HIV, hep B and syphilis

  • hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin)

Results which may suggest Down’s syndrome:

  • Low PAPP-A
  • High hCG
  • Nuchal thickening
