Answering Question With Sources Flashcards
How to answer a question including sources
Include:
- Inferences
- Purpose of the Source
- Usefulness
- Nature
- Origin
- How do all these things put together affect how useful the source/was at the time and why
Inferences:
If you are asked about what you can learn from a source, remember to think about what is inferred by it - i.e. what it implies or suggests, not just what information it tells you.
Purpose Of Source:
If asked about this, think about why the person that created the source did so. What did he or she want people to think when they saw/heard it? What reaction did they want?
(Why was it created? What was it trying to achieve?)
Usefulness:
If asked about how useful a source is, remember to use its content (what it tells us) but also the nature, origin and purpose of it.
Nature:
What is it? Photo? Speech? Newspaper report?
Origin:
Who made it? When was it made?
