ANS Drugs Flashcards
Ach
preganglionic sympathetic (both for sweatglands, and somatic neuromuscular end plates); all for parasympathetic
Amphetamine
sympathomimetic; facilitates the release of epi, norepi, and dopamine from adrenergic nerves
Botulinum
blocks release of ACh from cholinergic nerves
Cocaine
sympathomimetic; impairs reuptake of norepi and dopamine by adrenergic nerve endings; local anesthetic
Dopamine
renal vasodilation, cardiac stiumlation
Hemicholiniums
inhibit transport of choline into cholinergeic nerves
Hexamethonium
blocks all ANS ganglia and prevents autonommic compensatory reflexes
Metyrosine
inhibits tryosine hydroxylase (inhibits norepi synthesis)
Resperine
inhibits VMAT (transporter of dopamine and norepi into transmitter vesicles)
Tetrodotoxin
blocks sodium channels (limits transmission in all nerves)
Saxitoxin
blocks sodium channels (limits transmission in all nerves)
Vesamicol
inhibits VAT (transporter of ACh into ransmitter vesicles)
