ANS Flashcards
How does somatic efferent operate?
Lower (alpha) motor neuron to voluntary muscle
How does autonomic efferent operate?
Preganglionic neuron-> preganglionic fiber -> ganglion -> postganglionic fiber -> involonuntary muscles and glands
How does the ANS operate?
Homeostasis, unconscious, involuntary
- Sympathetic
- Parasymphathetic
What are 1st, 2nd and third order neurons descending?
Central =1st
Preganglionic = 2nd
Post ganglionic =3rd
What are the 3 things of Horners syndrome? What side of the body/face?
- Pupil dilate (miosis)
- Tarsal: ptosis
- Sweat: anhidrosis *LACK
Central Horners: Anihidrosis on ipsilateral body
Preganglionic Horners: anhidrosis ipsilateral face
Where is the autonomic center for the cardio accerlerator/decerleator?
Medullary reticular formation
Where is the vasomotor output for cardiacaccelerator?
Sympathetic nucleus in spinal cord
Where is the vasomotor output for cardiacdecclerator?
Nuerons in dorsal vagal nucleus and reticular formation
Where is autonomic center for respirator inspirational/expiration?
Medullary reticular formation
Where is the autonomic center for apneusis (prolonged inspiration) and pneumotaxis (control of expiration)
Pontine reticular formation
Where is the vasomotor output for expiration/inspiration?
Phrenic, intercostal, abdominal
Where is the vasomotor output for apneusis/pneumotaxis?
medullary respiratory centers
Where is the autonomic center for vomitting?
medullary centers
Where is the autonomic output for vomiting?
emetic center, vagal/parasympathetic and preganglionic neurons
Where is the micturition autonomic center?
Pontine reticular formation
