ANOVA (Lecture 8) Flashcards
What are the two types of ANOVA?
- Univariate - One variable
2. Multivariate - More than one variable
What is the main assumption of the linear model?
That the treatment effects every EU in the same way
What is a variable?
What is measured
What is a factor?
the effect under investigation
What are the two sources of variation?
- Between sample sites (treatment effect)
2. Within sites (error)
What does LSD stand for?
Least Significant Difference
What test can you use for multiple comparisons?
Tukey. Used to compare critical LSD to calculated distance between means.
Ho: There is no difference between the treatment means
What are the 3 assumptions of the ANOVA?
- Normality (Normal Q-Q Plot, Shapiro normality)
- Independence (residual vs fitted plot)
- Homogeneity of variance (Levenes test)
What is the purpose of a multi-way ANOVA?
When determining weather two or three factors interact. Do they act together to produce a greater or lesser effect then if they acted independently?
