A

Ant. talofibular ligament sprain

supine, 20 degrees PF, draw talus forward in ankle mortise.

Lateral rotation stress test (Kleiger test)

A

Deltoid Ligament tear or High ankle sprain
seated dependent, apply lateral rotation force to the foot
Positive = pain over anterior or posterior tibiofibular ligament and interosseous membrane (high ankle) OR pain medially and talus shifting away from medial malleolus (deltoid)

Talar tilt test

A

Calcaneofibular Ligament Sprain
sidelying with knee flexed 90 degrees. Tilt talus into abduction and adduction
Positive = excessive adduction

Thompson test

A

Ruptured Achilles tendon
prone, feet extended over edge of the table. PT squeezes muscle belly of gastroc and soleus
Positive = absense of plantar flexion

A

Measuring amount of “toe out”

Normal lateral torsion is 12-18 degrees in an adult

A

supine with hip and knees extended, measure from ASIS to medial malleoli.
Significant = >1cm variation between legs
