Morton’s Test
SUPINE
Neuroma
1. Use the thumb and index finger of one hand to squeeze the dorsal and plantar aspects of each intermetatarsal space.
Fracture
2. Grasp the foot around the metatarsal heads and squeeze the heads together
TESTING: Neuroma or Fracture
+ve: pain/clicking
Thompson Test
PRONE
Ex. squeeze client calf
TESTING: Achilles rupture
+ve: no plantar flexion
Anterior Drawer Test
SUPINE
Ex. stabilize the foot and talus and push the tibia and fibula posteriorly w dorsiflexion.
TESTING: Injury of the Anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL)
+ve: excessive laxity, visible dimple or pain
Feiss Line
LONGSIT - draw three dots on the apex of the med malleoli, navicular tuberosity and plantar base 1st MT.
STAND - see if middle dot drops to the ground
TESTING: flatfooted
+ve: Navicular drops 1/3 = 1st degree flatfoot
Navicular drops 2/3 = 2nd degree flatfoot
Navicular drops 3/3 = 3rd degree (navicular on ground)
Talar Tilt
SUPINE
dorsi inversion - PTTL
neutral inversion - CFL
plantar inversion - ATFL
dorsi eversion - PTTL
neutral eversion - Tibial Calcaneal
plantar eversion - Tibionavicular
TESTING - Rupture, tear, sprain of ligament
+ve: Increased laxity compared to the normal side or pain
Dorsalis Pedis Pulse
SUPINE
examiner moves further over the cuneiforms or between the 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones, the dorsalis pedis pulse can be found
TESTING: Insufficiency in arteries
+ve: no pulse
